Frequently Asked Questions
How long does my hair need to be?
The ideal length is 1/4 inch long. It’s okay if your hair is longer, please don’t worry about trimming. If you have been shaving regularly, stop and then book an appointment in two weeks time.
How should I prepare?
- If you haven’t already been exfoliating start doing so 2-3 times a week.
- Wait to get a spray tan until after your appointment. The color comes off when we wax.
- Don’t get a tan or eek! a sunburn before a wax. Your skin will be too sensitive for waxing.
- Avoid alcohol. It can be tempting to have a drink to help relax but it’s best not to. Alcohol increases circulation which can make waxing more painful-for that same reason avoid caffeine and exercise prior to your appointment
- Take a painkiller such as advil or aleve(avoid aspirin which increases blood flow)45 minutes prior to your appointment.
How long do I wait between waxes?
I every recommend every four to six weeks to maintain a schedule and for the least amount of discomfort. Listen though, you do you. If you only want to come before vacation or during summer I won’t judge.
What kind of wax do you use?
I use a high quality hypoallergenic wax imported from France. It's specially formulated to grip hair, not skin, so there’s no unneeded pulling and fewer ingrown hairs. I use both hard wax, wax that is removed with strips(soft wax), and sometimes both depending on the body area and the texture of the hair.
Can I wax my bikini area if I’m on my period?
Yes, you can absolutely get waxed when it’s that time of the month, as long as you are using a tampon or menstrual cup. However, people tend to be slightly more sensitive when they are on their period and you may experience more discomfort than usual. Please note, if you decide to reschedule your appointment because of your period my normal cancellation policy still applies.
